History

A thriving village-based tennis club that welcomes players of all levels. Founded in 1974 BTC is a popular club with over 100 members drawn from the surrounding, beautiful Kent countryside. Close to Canterbury and easy access to the major roads, we encourage players of all ages and abilities to join us.

Your Committee

John HarrisJohn is the club chairman and is a founding member.
John is an active player, who favours the slice shot.

Judith JeffersonJudith is the club secretary.
She is a regular at the Ladies' morning and also plays in the Mixed B team.

 

Barrie GoreBarrie is a keen player and organiser of many of the club events.
He is the primary contact for the Dover League teams. Barrie is very competitive and a regular at Wednesday club evenings.

Rhona JardellaRhona is the main organiser of the League Mixed A team.
A very competitive player and a regular at Wednesday club evenings.

Martyn HewettMartyn is our membership secretary.
He is a regular player in warmer weather!

Jean JohnsonJean is another regular at the Ladies' mornings.
She also puts together the newsletter for the membership.

Charlie BainbridgeCharlie lives very close to the club but doesn't play as often as he would like.
He helps out with the maintenance of the club.

Roger DupreyRoger is the club treasurer.
He is a regularr on Sunday mornings.

Christopher BristowChris manages the website for the club.
He is also the match secretary for the Mixed B team.

 

 

Club Timeline

1974: Inaugural MeetingThe founding members met at the Village Hall and wuth funds raised through grants, personal loans and events, the club was formed. 1976: Two Courts OpenedWith two courts available club members helped out with coaching. 1985: Club Hut BuiltThe members built the first club house. 1993: Floodlighting InstalledThrough use of grants and club reserves floodlighting was added. 1995: Third Court & Floodlighting Expanding the club facilities with a third court enabled professional coaching for juniors, seniors and schools. 2000: Club Pavilion OpenedNational Lottery Grant funding and club reserves helped deliver our new club house pavilion.
